Built with a white mesh upper, the model features light grey overlays framing the toe box, eyestays, and heel panel. Navy piping traces the perimeter of the mesh paneling to deliver visual contrast, while classic navy “N” logos at the midfoot incorporate subtle silver accents. New Balance Awarded Military Shoe Contract

New Balance has been awarded a major federal contract to produce athletic shoes for U.S. military service members, with the footwear set to be manufactured at the company’s facility in Skowhegan, ME.

Under the three-year contract, the agency could purchase up to 540,000 pairs of athletic shoes, with a guaranteed minimum order of 22,000 pairs per year. The shoes will be made supplied to military recruits for basic training.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins in a statement said the contract was awarded by the Defense Logistics Agency, which is responsible for supplying equipment and materials to the military.

Collins’ office noted that she and other members of Maine’s congressional delegation successfully pushed for a provision in the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act requiring military recruits to receive American-made athletic footwear under the Berry Amendment, which gives preference to domestically produced goods for the military.

The new contract follows a previous Defense Logistics Agency agreement awarded to New Balance in 2018 that was worth $17.3 million.
