The business, which owns Little Mistress, Girls on Film and Paper Dolls, will begin integrating a host of plant-based, eco, biodegradable, and recyclable fabrics into its collections next year, such as food and water waste. Its target is for 70% of its designs to be “consciously made” by the end of 2024.
The strategy from Little Mistress has been structured to roll out gradually across the three years, with a zero increase to its current price architecture. The group will begin the transition in February 2022, with 10% of the new collection made from 100% Lenzing™ Ecovero™, an eco-friendly sustainable, fully biodegradable, alternative to traditional viscose.
One of the textiles landing in Little Mistress’ spring/summer 2022 collection is “orange fibre fabric”; a by-product from the pressing of oranges.
Elsewhere, certified 100% organic, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and plant-based fabrics from India will be introduced, including aloe vera, corn, sugar cane, banana, bamboo and eucalyptus.
