The Mitsubishi Pencil Company acquires LAMY, aiming to lead the company and brand into the future

TOKYO and HEIDELBERG, Germany, Feb. 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitsubishi Pencil Co Ltd, founded in Japan in 1887 and the company behind the well-known uni brand, is taking over C. Josef Lamy GmbH and the LAMY brand. The family-owned company LAMY underwent a complex process to look for a buyer who could lead the company, founded in 1930 by C. Josef Lamy, into the future with expertise, experience and love for the LAMY brand along with a commitment to Germany as a business location. This process has today been successfully concluded with all shares in the company now sold. The annual turnover of Mitsubishi Pencil is several times that of the company Lamy.

EU backs Lamy for top WTO job

EU governments formally gave their backing Thursday to former Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy as Europe's candidate to head the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the European Commission said.

European Union ambassadors from the bloc's 25 national governments agreed unanimously to support Lamy and France will now present his candidacy to the WTO, said Claude Veron-Reville, the EU executive's spokeswomen for trade.

"The commission believes he is a very strong and clearly highly qualified candidate for the job ... we are pleased that Europe has rapidly united," Veron-Reville said.

Lamy's successor as trade commissioner, Peter Mandelson, lauded Lamy and said he would be well-suited for the task.

두 펜 모두 LAMY의 스테디셀러 모델의 본체를 기반으로 하고 있다. safari twin pen은 익숙한 'safari', AL-star EMR은 알루미늄 소재의 'AL-star'다. 클립이나 그립 형태 등 평소 LAMY다운 디자인은 그대로 유지하면서, 와콤이 특허를 가진 EMR(전자기 유도 방식) 기술을 통한 디지털 입력 기능이 내장되어 있다.
