Former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin appeared in court again on Friday (July 18) for the third oral hearing in a 2 billion won ($1.45 million) defamation lawsuit filed by HYBE’s label Belift Lab. The case centers on Min’s public claims that Belift plagiarized concepts from her and ADOR’s work with the girl group NewJeans in their promotion of ILLIT. Belift Lab initially filed the lawsuit in May 2024, accusing Min of defamation and obstruction of business.
A separate hearing for a 500 million won ($360,000) lawsuit filed by Source Music, initially scheduled for the same day, was postponed to Aug. 22. Source Music had filed its claim in July 2024, alleging that Min’s statements constituted false information and harmed both the company and its artists.
The Belift Lab hearing was originally scheduled for May 2025 but was rescheduled to July 18 at the request of Min’s legal team. With Source Music’s case delayed, only the Belift-Min proceedings took place that day. Both sides were given 30 minutes each to present their arguments in court.

Founded in Manchester in 2007, LAB Records has amassed the master rights to a catalogue of more than 700 songs, which have collectively been streamed hundreds of millions of times.
LAB Records and ADA have enjoyed recent success together with a number of artists including Tommy Lefroy, BEKA, Beach Weather, Antony Szmierek, Des Rocs, Aziya, Crawlers, The K’s, Nell Mescal and Yoke Lore.

SEOUL – Belift Lab, a K-pop subsidiary label under South Korean entertainment giant Hybe, has filed a lawsuit against Team Bunnies, a fan group of K-pop girl group NewJeans, for allegedly defaming Belift Lab’s girl group Illit.
In a complaint submitted to the Seoul Western District Court on Dec 15, Belift Lab said the operator of Team Bunnies had persistently spread false claims accusing Illit of plagiarising NewJeans, causing reputational and financial harm. The label is seeking 100 million won (S$87,000) in damages.
Belift Lab also took issue with Team Bunnies’ alleged acquisition and online disclosure of Illit’s confidential internal planning document.
The label noted that Team Bunnies filed criminal complaints in November 2024 against executives of Belift Lab after the company publicly rejected the plagiarism accusations – a move it described as malicious and unfounded.
Illit – comprising Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee and Iroha – were formed by Belift Lab through South Korean reality show R U Next? (2023) and debuted in 2024.
NewJeans – consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein – were formed by Ador, another subsidiary under Hybe. They debuted in 2022.
