Hades: How to Get Hades' Keepsake

Keepsakes can sometimes mean all the difference in Hades, as they provide Zagreus with powerful effects that can either make him stronger or help the player control what boons they get. Each of the Cthonic gods in the Underworld have one, and so do all of the Olympian gods. Even Sisyphus and Cerberus have keepsakes that the player can get, but many players are still missing the keepsake of Hades himself.

In order to get a keepsake from a character, the player needs to gift that character a Nectar. In most cases, the first nectar given to the character will result in them trading their keepsake to the player, but this isn't true for Hades. In his case, there are some steps that need to be completed before Hades players can get their father's keepsake.

This is one of two keepsakes that aren't available until after the player finishes the main story. Without spoiling anything, it will be very clear when that happens, as Zagreus' main goal will be completed. After the series of cutscenes that play when the player beats the game, Hades can then be given more nectar.

Keepsakes help keep you safe in Hades 2. Most Keepsakes grant passive perks on your runs, and are geared toward improving your survival chances (or at least your not-dying-as-quickly chances).

You get Keepsakes by gifting Nectar, a semi-rare resource, to Hades 2’s cast of gods, heroes, and other Ancient Greek notables. If you’ve played the original Hades, a lot of this will be familiar to you: It’s functionally the same system.

How to get Keepsakes in Hades 2

When you’re near a character, press RT on a controller or G on a keyboard to “gift.” In the menu that pops up, select the “Nectar” option from the grid. (It’s a little jar of honey.) If it’s your first time giving a Nectar to that character, they’ll respond in kind by giving you a Keepsake.
