The new chief executive joins Garmont from motorcycle brand Dainese, where he most recently served as chief commercial officer. Prior to that role, he served as CEO at Italian boot brand TCX. Nalesso has also held positions at the Oberalp Group, Geox and Diadora.
“I am proud to lead a company with so much heritage and am pleased to place my experience in the footwear and outdoor industries at Garmont’s service to achieve important goals,” Nalesso said in a statement.
With this move, Pierangelo Bressan, who has been leading the company since 2014, will remain as president of the board of directors as well as a shareholder in the company in what is being described as a “gradual succession plan.”
Bressan said in a statement that the last few years have been “very important” for Garmont. “I was in agreement from the outset with…
Equal performance, lower impact on the environment: With this idea, Garmont set out and teamed up with the Italian footwear brand and B-Corp ACBC to rework one of their iconic models, the Dragontail Tech. The Dragontail Tech Geo has a scientifically calculated 28.8% lower environmental impact in terms of CO2 and is to set a new standard in reducing the carbon footprint for the brand’s collection.

The Garmont Axon is a new pure Freerando boot for the 2008 season. Basically it is the same shell as the Endorphin but has inserts that are compatible with the Dynafit® binding system. Garmont say it is the most rigid shoe that can use this system and has exactly the same flex and precision as the Endorphin. The inner boot has been updated and there is also a laced version. The footbox is 1mm higher in the metatarsal area which optimises control of skis. In ski mode the boot can be inclined at 20 and 25° degrees. The skywalk® rubber sole is also thicker and harder to cope with the wear and tear of long approach walks and scrambles over rock and ice.
