A Wearside press agency is helping a new business brew up a bright future.
Narrative Integrated Communications is giving £50,000 worth of pro-bono marketing assistance to help promising new businesses this year.
The first business to benefit is Easy Teasy, a loose leaf tea supplier, founded in 2014 by Tom Webb, 23, and Luci Cowie, 21
Originally formed as part of a university module designed to give students a real world experience of running a company, Easy Teasy triumphed in local and regional heats in the Young Enterprise Start-up programme, before going on to win Best Investment Proposal and Best Trade Stand awards at the national final.
Esme Flounders, marketing and communications director at Narrative, said: “We know marketing can take a good business to great places, but realise that new companies often struggle to find the money to invest in such an essential area.
“So many of the region’s businesses could amplify their success if they just had this level of marketing investment.
“I know how hard the first few years of business can be and I’m delighted Narrative is going to be supporting some of the most…
Easy Teasy, a loose leaf tea company, is gearing up for the next stage of its development after launching a range of tea-infused chocolate.
The Newcastle business, set up in 2014 by former Northumbria University students Harry Marshall, Luci Cowie and Tom Webb, has launched the chocolate after teaming up with chocolatier The Chocolate Smiths.
Managing director Harry Marshall said: "Starting out with a range of just six teas, the idea of the business was to change the perception that loose leaf tea is messy or inconvenient.
"A year on, we have 20 different flavours on offer as well as a range of teapots and strainers and we’ve had fantastic support of the North East business community."
Marshall said the range of six chocolates have a "unique flavour" with the "delicate notes of green, black and oolong tea".
He added: "I've always had complete faith that Easy Teasy was a sustainable business and we have some exciting future plans to expand the business while continuing to deliver a unique range of products to our customers."
Easy Teasy is now wholesaling loose tea to cafes and delis across the North East, including Brew Bar on Newcastle Quayside.

The young entrepreneurs behind Loose leaf tea startup Easy Teasy are embarking on the next stage in their impressive growth journey, with the launch of a sister brand Estate Tea Co.
What began as a university project between Tom Webb and Luci Cowie in 2014, alongside former partner Harry Marshall, the business has risen to be one of the region’s most popular independents, appearing on the shelves of Fenwicks and online retailer Whole Foods Market.
After adding a tea-infused chocolate product range to their offering, Tom and Luci are continuing to innovate through the new brand set to feature some of the world’s rarest loose leaf tea.
The first consignment of tea will be produced from the Rohini tea garden and Gopaldhara tea gardens in Darjeeling, India, as the pair plan to deal directly with plantations to ensure they can get the best tea produced at the perfect time of year.
Owner Luci is set to visit Sri Lanka later this month to meet with plantation owners to find new products to add to the new brand.
