À la Halle Saint-Pierre, dans le bas Montmartre, le visiteur a l'habitude de côtoyer les œuvres de l'art brut, c'est l'originalité de ce musée pas comme les autres. En présentant jusqu'au 31 juillet 2027 Art brut ressourcé. La "S" Grand Atelier, c'est un nouveau regard sur cette pratique artistique et politique que nous propose la Halle, loin des clichés. Une exposition et un livre de Joy Sorman, La Vie brute, pour entrer dans cet univers qui bouleverse le regard.
L'exposition nous arrive des Ardennes belges, en Wallonie. Cachée dans la forêt, cette institution installée dans une ancienne caserne militaire depuis 30 ans offre aux handicapés un abri, un havre de création.
La "S" Grand Atelier est un lieu à part. Ni art-thérapie, ni foyer pour handicapés, il est, comme son nom le proclame, un atelier d'artistes. Joy Sorman, en arrivant dans ce lieu loin du monde, écrit : "Il n'y a pas si longtemps on cachait les handicapés mentaux à la campagne, (...) désormais leur isolement souverain est le repaire où peindre, dessiner, chanter, coudre (...) des œuvres inouïes et insoupçonnables."

Dubuffet’s celebration of Art Brut chimes with a contemporary drive to foreground the work of artists who have been marginalised or underrepresented due to their class, race, gender, sexuality, health, or socio-political position. Important work is being done to problematise the established canon of art and to ensure that certain groups of artists are no longer ghettoized or excluded from the heralded narratives of art.
As a white, able bodied and upper-middle class man, Dubuffet acknowledged his position of privilege and never considered himself an Art Brut artist.

There is no denying that the history of Art Brut is incredibly complex, and Dubuffet’s role in it raises challenging questions: what gave Dubuffet the right to appoint himself the spokesman of this work? Die langfristige Zukunft des Wiener Koproduktionshauses brut ist gesichert. Die Wiener Kulturstadträtin Veronica Kaup-Hasler (SPÖ) stellte am Freitag die Pläne für “ein Haus für die freie Szene” in Wien-Landstraße vor. Das ehemalige Bankhaus St. Marx soll um 6,9 Mio. Euro renoviert werden, die Fertigstellung – und somit der Einzug des brut Wien – ist für 2024 geplant.
Das von Kira Kirsch geleitete brut Wien hatte im Zuge der Sanierung des Wiener Künstlerhauses durch die Haselsteiner Familienstiftung seine Spielstätte verloren, da der Renovierungsbeitrag von 5 Mio. Euro nicht aufgebracht werden konnte. Das nunmehr von der Stadt Wien auserkorene Gebäude füge sich ideal in den entstehenden Kultur- und Mediencluster St. Marx ein, wie es am Freitag bei einer Pressekonferenz hieß.
Das Gebäude sei von seiner Grundstruktur “bestens” für die Umwandlung in ein Theater geeignet und bleibe als historisches Objekt dem Stadtbild Wiens langfristig erhalten. Das Objekt ist und bleibt im Eigentum der Stadt Wien, die Finanzierung der Sanierung werde von der Stadt gesichert. Das Objekt soll brut im Rahmen der Förderzusage zur Nutzung zur Verfügung gestellt werden.
Zur Verfügung stehen künftig 1.800 Quadratmeter, also um 700 mehr als im Künstlerhaus. Das Gebäude verfügt…
