Chandrapur: Miffed over alleged deceit during environmental public hearing over Takli-Jena-Bellora (North) and Takli-Jena-Bellora (South) opencast-cum-underground coal mine of Aurobindo Reality and Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (ARIPL), project affected persons (PAPs) of Bellora have refused to give away their land for the mining activity until their demands are met.
A delegation of villagers led by sarpanch Sangeeta Deharkar on Wednesday met district collector and submitted a 14-point charter of demands, alleging that the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, district authorities and company officials failed to address their demands and issues during the hearing held on June 21.
“During the hearing, PAPs from 11 villages raised their issues for nearly four hours. When, it was the turn of company officials to answer the queries and issues raised during the hearing, they were devious in their answers and evaded key issues like rate of compensation, jobs against the acquired land, rehabilitation of Bellora,” claimed Deharkar.
