Stricter rules designed to help prevent the spread of the virus go into effect Wednesday, affecting Cook County as well as the Metro East region outside St. Louis, and include closing down indoor dining and bar service. Thunder and lightning, and lower numbers, did not deter golf, darts or croquet players over the last few days of the South Island Masters Games.
The 32 golfers at the Geraldine District Golf Club were pounded by thunder and lightning on Wednesday so completed a nine hole round instead of the usual 18, game co-ordinator Brenda McEwen said.
Brian Brown and Brian Quinn won gold in the under 60s with nett 31, and drawn by lot were Daryl Milne and Jeff Shaw who gained silver with nett 32 and bronze winners were Sandra Quinn and Sally Smith also with nett 32.
Over 60s gold medal winners were Dickon Cocker and Susan Ratapu with nett 33, and drawn by lot were silver medallists Kevin Prouting and Mel Rogers with nett 36, and bronze were Tony Giles and Tony Burling-Claridge also with nett 36.
