Qatar University (QU) and the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral co-operation in areas of common interest.
The MoU was signed by Vice-President of QU for Research and Graduate Studies, Prof Mariam al-Ali al-Maadeed, and member of the Al-Attiyah Foundation's Board of Trustees, Fahad bin Hamad al-Mohannadi.
Under the MoU, the two parties would exchange expertise and information, including bulletins, periodicals, studies, statistics and data, as well as the co-operation in organising conferences, meetings, training, and other possible fields.
Al-Maadeed said the MoU represents an advanced step towards achieving the goal of sustainable development in broader access to energy and improving the efficiency of using renewable energy by 2030.
She added that both sides share many common goals in energy and sustainable development, contributing to the best implementation of sustainable national development projects and programmes.
She stressed the MoU will enhance the university's work related to research, sustainable development and climate change, and achieve the university's mission to excel in studies and research related to local and regional challenges and contribute positively to achieving the needs of society and the country.
